Koa is considered by many woodworkers to be one of the most beautiful, precious, and rare tropical hardwoods in existence. A native tree of Hawaii, Koa has long since been sought after for its historic significance, as well as its beauty. The grain of Koa is very unique and varies from a golden reddish brown to dark brown with streaks of darker browns and black. Because Koa grows in areas that were once lava fields, it is thought that that is the reason for it's beautiful golden reddish color. When finished, koa is highly lustrous, with beautiful hues of gold, red, and brown.
